The talk of the weekend was about tactical races, weight penalties and such; Kox “did not want to be part of this theatre”, Euser and Huisman continued to stay off the podium and the Nissan team was furious about the 35 extra kg they had to take aboard. Withdrawal was an option, but “in the interest of the circuit and racing in general” they did take part - and Raymond Coronel was quite unhelpful since he put the heavy car on pole...
In the race he missed his braking pint at Tarzan, so victory went to others: after a fight with Colijn and a touch which took the Peugeot out, Ciapponi won the race ahead of Bastiaans (now in a 4-door 320) and Happé.
More talking for the long-distance race for the 1400 cc class; the tanks of the Rovers were too small for one hour of racing, so the race was shortened to 50 minutes, ending in a Rover 1-2 for van de Haterd ahead of Rover guest Coronel Jr and Top in the leading Suzuki.
The over-2000 race was won by polesitter Kox, with van Dedem second and Ron Langeberg third. Van Vliet (Lotus) ran into trouble right after the start: he ran wide and was hit by van Os twice and Krab too; he finished a lowly 7th, ending any title dreams.
