Although the field hadn’t grown much compared to 1991, the quality had improved; the numbers 1-18 on the grid were within 2 seconds and there were many new cars and teams. BMW had two semi-works teams with the new E36 coupé, Vic lee and Prodrive, Rouse brought three Carinas (one for champion Hoy) and there was a private car for Kaye; Ray Mallock had rebuilt two ex-works Cavaliers for Ecurie Ecosse while the works cars were prepared by Dave Cook. 1990 champion Gravett had a Peugeot 405, Watts a Mazda 323F and there were some E30 M3s for the privateers. |
