The traditional long-distance race came together with new handicap rules; the BMWs could shed 50 kg but their restrictor was reduced to 39 mm, while the Alfas gained 20 kg and the Nissans even 30 kg, on top of their handicap weight. It was decided shortly before the race, so there was little possibility to adopt the cars. Krab and Caron were furious, and they were right: 4 BMWs headed the grid and easily won the race, Raymond Coronel winning with van Splunteren second and van Dedem (who drove Kalff’s Alfa) was third, little Tommy fourth with a fading battery and the first Nissan of Caron only fifth. But to be honest, the pit work at BMW was first class and way better than the other teams. The small class was won by an overjoyed Kreijne since Top had a bad stop since his fuel cap refused to open.
