The 1991 Procar championship continued where it had ended last year: great cars and serious fights. New were the Omega Evo of Haugg and the Mercedes Evo 1, which was to be driven by Joosen, but lack of funds meant that tuner “Carly” Pellinkhof drove the car (not being an experienced driver, he did very well) to attract potential sponsors. Vanierschot drove a new Mazda RX7 but that was not very quick yet. In heat 2, some of the frontrunners were absent so the field was a bit thin, though this was compensated by the fierce but clean battle at the front. While Tassin comes to a halt with a broken clutch it is Martin who takes the lead with Verellen and Slaus close behind. Martin was able to keep his lead to the end despite Verellen not giving up. Slaus retired one lap from the end when he went out of fuel, leaving third to Winderinckx. Witmeur won the Peugeot- and 2 liter class. |
