A long-distance race for all classes together, and 8.000 people came to watch it. Van der Beek, this time sharing with Fred Frankenhout, overcame his practice problems (despite pole) and took the lead, followed by three Mercedes of which van Dedem spun when he tried to pass van der Beek. Verschuur (sharing with Hart) slipped by but had to let van Dedem go when his gearbox hampered. In the mean time, Bolderheij was leading the 2-liter cars after Coronel hit Visser and both had to retire. Van Dedem had a magnificent stop, but the heavy Mazda had to change all four wheels and dropped back to third, behind van Dedem and Hart/”Carly” who had a quick stop as well. When the brakes of “Carly” failed, the Mazda went to second, but van Dedem won the race. The 2-liter class was won by Bolderheij ahead of Kalff, van Splunteren and Huisman/Euser who had an uneventful race. The 1300 class was won by Kreijne. |
