Vörös had been fastest of the 2-liter field in practice, but teammate Kalff stole the show with a demon start - only to ruin things at Tarzan corner; he could start all over again from ninth. He finally finished fourth, behind the BMW duo of van Splunteren and Huisman and Vörös. The race had a magnificent fight for fifth between Bolderheij (Opel), Van Reenen and Santisi (Alfa), Caron (Peugeot) and Reinders (BMW) - it was won by Bolderheij who was fastest on the straight but most defensive in the corners. Ciapponi won the 1300 cc class. The over-2000 cc cars presented a real race again, with van der Beek and Krab doing the fighting for the lead. Van der Beek took the lead and Krab needed nearly all of the race to find a spot to pass the Mazda driver - he found one on the outside of Tarzan corner, and stayed next to van der Beek until Nissan corner where he could finally finish the manoeuvre. Langeberg finished third. |
