Top of the bill this year would be the 2-liter class of the production championship, after the withdrawal of the importer teams from the big class. A cracking entry and the track debut of the E36 BMW (four of them) as well as eight (!) Alfa Romeo 75s, a brand new Nissan Sunny and many cars from last year; but the race was a disappointment!
The importer BMW team of van Splunteren (angled from Alfa Romeo) and Patrick Huisman was too fast for the others; a demon start of van ’t Hoff gave him an early lead, but soon the BMW team sailed past and the unlucky Peugeot driver even lost third when his engine went off song. Kalff and Vörös could only manage third and fourth, ahead of yet another BMW E36 of Reinders. Of course, the BMW told everyone that it hadn’t been easy, with tire- and brake troubles - and with higher temperatures the cars would be terrible! Sure, but the other teams found the BMWs to be far too light. Van Reenen was hit by Bolderheij after a mishap at Tarzan exit and retired. The 1300 class was won by Ciapponi, who started from behind after a technical infringement in practice.

The over-2500 cc class had a less impressive entry, but three M3s, three Mercedes and a Mazda were at least competitive. Hemmes’ Nissan contract (she would drive a Group N Godzilla) was cancelled after Nissan thought it would be impossible to get the engine management system to work with the Dutch restrictor rules.
This problem hadn’t reached Denmark, since Larsen raced a similar Skyline here - it should be said not at the front of the field.
Van der Beek was the man to beat, he took the lead and was never challenged but the fight for second was great; Krab and Coronel finished in this order.
