The first of the two ITR cup races, not counting towards the driver title but counting for the team- and make championship, gave a little consolation for Mercedes and BMW, who had such a defeat at Hockenheim. Ludwig, with tanks only half full, dominated the first race ahead of Soper, Asch and Thiim, and for race 2 he had to start from the back with his spare car. The second race was won by Soper, while the Audis finished low; perhaps the track was not suited for the Audis - or they did not want to demonstrate their superiority too much, in fear of a heavier base weight for 1992... |
