New rules for 1990 (a sort of mix between DTM and Group N, with GTs and non-Group N cars added) meant that turbos were not allowed anymore, which gave a problem for Alpine and Ford. What remained among the frontrunners were BMW, Porsche, Audi and Ferrari, while in Division 2 there were many Peugeots 309, thanks to a cup-classification within the race. The race format was changed to two heats of 45 minutes, with divisions 1 and 2 on the same grid, to Peugeots disappointment. To compensate, there was massive publicity. Furthermore, drivers could share a car and both would get any points the other gathered as well as their own.
Martin’s pace was impressive with his Hartge-M3, but it was expected after much testing in Zolder and Brno. The reworked Ferrari raised some more eyebrows, but that Slaus was competitive in his hastily formed team with an untested, self-built M3 on a Bigazzi shell was sensational.

Heat 1 saw a clean fight between Martin and Slaus, with the latter coming out on top with Van de Poele in the Ferrari third, while De Jamblinne finished fourth in another brand new, untested car-rera 2 (pun intended).
Vanierschot finished way down in his turbo-less Alpine, while Yves Semoulin didn’t even qualify the atmo-Sierra, which had to start in the 2000-3000 cc class; yet another penalty.
In heat 2, the order was reversed while Neugarten finished third. The small ones were a bit anonymous, but had a fine race; though Tillekaerts and Salmon/Polak were disqualified for being underweight.
