Another weekend full of excitement!

Under 2000 cc
In the press, van Reenen and van Splunteren had some unkind words about each other, but on the track it was under control. Van Splunteren, main title contender, had a troubled practice and started 12th while Vörös started second behind Caron. Rival van Reenen had to pit early after a puncture, and got back into the race he returned right behind van Splunteren, lapped of course. But would he...? No worries, van Splunteren was more hindered by Bolderheij but after a light contact with van Reenen everything was OK, though van Splunteren had lost contact with the leaders. Surprisingly, a pace car had to intervene since a car was stranded on the track, and the restart was a bit of a mess so Caron, who had been leading the race by a nice margin lost his victory to Top, van ’t Hoff dropped back and van Splunteren could celebrate his championship on the podium since he finished third. The restart had been a disaster for Oeberius Kapteyn, in contention for the 1300 title; he was too early on the gas at the restart and was disqualified, so Ciapponi finished second behind Kreijne and that brought him the title.

Over 2500 cc
Van Dedem, normally an experienced and cool driver, must have had a bad day; after a disappointing practice he saw a gap which wasn’t really there after the start, collided, jumped into the air and landed. The rest of the field was either hit directly or indirectly and when the dust settled the cars of van Dedem and Euser were damaged but mobile; van der Beek and van Krimpen had cars beyond immediate repair but took over their teammates car; Hin’s car was unable to take the restart.
The second try saw Euser taking the lead if nothing had happened, van Dedem was second for a while but was passed by Huisman and Krab when the suspension of the Mercedes made clear that a jump into the air wasn’t something which would go unnoticed.
