Decision day at Zandvoort for the over-2000 class.
The under-2000 race was led by Caron, but soon Bolderheij took over until his tires deteriorated; then van Reenen took over and was delighted with his first victory and second in the championship. An interesting car was the Alfa Romeo 33 1.7 QV, driven by Thom Meylink Jr; in the near future, Alfa Romeo would have to switch to front wheel drive anyway.
The 1300 cc class was won by Oeberius Kapteyn.

The over-2000 cc had a few new faces; Lionel Abbot brought a Saab 9000 turbo from the UK, but what was that third Mercedes in the paddock? It was destined for works driver Fritz Kreuzpointner, to help van Dedem. But the latter could do no better than seventh on the grid, with Euser on pole, Hin second and Fritz third. Hin had te best start, but Euser took over in lap 2, had a small fight with Fritz the German which ended when the Mercedes driver was too rough on the kerbs and predictably blew a tire. Kreuzpointner was surprised by the level of competition and promised to be back next year. Abbott could do no better than eight, another sign that the class had grown to a professional level indeed.
The versatile Euser winner and champion, the year had come go a good end after all the excitement of the previous races.
After a few weeks, both BMW and Mercedes withdrew their importer teams from the biggest class; a severe blow.
