Recently graduated from production saloons, Jerry Mahoney scored a comfortable victory in Sunday's opening round of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone. Before he hit the front though the race looked as though it was going to go first to Andy Rouse and then Graham Goode, but both fell foul of minor, niggling problems. A lucky win perhaps but as the man said, "We've had luck go against us in the past." Mike Newman took second with his Cosworth and another production saloon graduate, Bob Sands, made it an RS500 first three. (MN) |
