Flammini, the former F2 champion, returned to racing this year and promptly won the Group N Trophy for cars over 2000 cc. True, he was favourite, but unlike others his tires stayed together during the race. Galluzzo for instance, in the lighter BMW M3, gave up after only three laps while Caramatti, who challenged Flammini during the first few laps, fell back and finished only 16th. So now Oliviero finished second, albeit nearly 10 seconds in arrears. Marchiol won the 2000 cc class after his opponents ran into tire troubles as well, and in the 1600 cc class victory went to Antonelli (Peugeot 205 GTI), while in 1300 the victory was decided at the green table, after a protest by Ambrosi (Suzuki) against Di Paolo (Samba Rally). The Talbot had illegal bodywork and was thrown out. |
