With the clashing Spa 24 hour race in Belgium, Snetterton took on an unlikely jet-set feel when it hosted the eighth round of the BTCC at the weekend. Current championship leader Chris Hodgetts flew between Spa and the Norfolk circuit in order to do both events, but though he left with his lead intact, Mike O'Brien was very much the man doing the flying on Sunday. "I expect to win, that's why I'm here," he commented calmly having just secured pole on Saturday. 24 hours later he vindicated his confidence, giving the Holden Commodore its first win on British soil, having just got the better of a frantic race-long dice involving the Rovers of Dennis Leech and David Carvell as well as the Cosworth of Pete Hall.
