Group N
The class took off after its maiden season, with five brand new Sierras and an M3. It was Ruitenbeek whose car was prepared best, though Hemmes (Sierra) took pole with an unbelievable 1.48,9 - surely a mistake by the timekeepers. Ruitenbeek took the lead and never looked back, Hemmes followed with van Kouwen’s M3 third, unable to match the top speed of the Fords. The other three Sierras seemed to have deficits in power as well as roadholding. The division 2 cars were led by a lonely BMW 325i of Eglem, since his main opponent Vörös blew both his race engine as well as his spare. The 2000 cc class was, like last year, mainly a Renault event with Postma winning while Stam retired after a single lap. Finally, the 1600 class had a nice fight between van ‘t Hoff (Corolla 16v) and Oeberius Kapteyn with the tiny Suzuki Swift - they finished 4/10ths apart with van ‘t Hoff winning.

Group A
Van Dedem’s brand new BMW M3 was far too fast for the opposition; second place man Fontijn lost nearly a lap! The rest of the field consisted of Youngtimers, with the exception of a new Peugeot 205 for Paul Welther. But how on earth can a championship have a cars like a Commodore GS/E or a Ford Escort RS 2000?
Still, there were some exciting new cars to look forward to: a Sierra and a Holden should make the field a little better in future.
