Chris Hodgetts sewed up his second successive RAC British Touring Car Championship at a scorching Donington. The CHMS/ Toyota GB/Shell Oils Toyota Corolla took a comfortable class win, giving him a lead of 32 points which cannot be closed in the three remaining rounds come what may. The 20 lap race, staged over Donington's 1.96 mile circuit, saw victory go to Frank Sytner. His Mobil/Chartered Trust/Sytner supported BMW M3 ran short of brakes in the second part of the race and just one more corner would have seen Graham Goode through. The local man's Listerine Sierra Cosworth proved ultra competitive with the latest evolution goodies fitted. (MN) |
