It looked like another AMG Mercedes victory when he entered the last lap with a comfortable distance to second-placed Thiim. But then when he left the chicane, there was no second gear - and he was beaten to the flag, but still able to salvage second. That was the dramatic end of an eventful race; just half a lap after the start, polesitter Niedzwiedz stormed into the double lefthander - and had a massive off, parts of his Sierra even damaging his team mate’s car. The unexpected leader was now Sepp Haider in the second Scuderia Kassel Mercedes, a car which was even faster on the straights than the AMG ones... his lead was lost when he spun and hit a landing light. |
