Andy Rouse made it three this year in the ICS Ford Sierra XR4Ti when he took a more than convincing victory at a rain soaked Thruxton last Monday, finishing well ahead of Neil McGrath's Rover. The race was stopped on the first lap after a simply enormous shunt at Allard which effectively eliminated seven cars, fortunately without any serious injury other than to sponsors' bank balances. Jon Dooley vanquished championship leader Graham Goode's tyre troubled Nissan for Class B and Chris Hodgetts took over team-mate John Morris' less heavily damaged Escort to score a good if slightly controversial Class C victory. Only 18 cars practised and half that number took the flag and at this rate the RAC might as well give Rouse the title permanently! (MN) |
