There really seems to be no stopping Andy Rouse. Although pipped for pole position once again by Dave Brodie's Colt Starion, Rouse put his ICS Sierra to the fore when it mattered, and romped away to score yet another Group A victory at Snetterton on Sunday. Ford actually took its second clean sweep of the year, with Richard Longman's Escort RS Turbo putting one over Graham Goode's Nissan, after a splendid battle for what was fourth place overall. In the baby class, Chris Hodgetts and Richard Belcher had a good set to, Hodgetts' Escort RS1600i nabbing the spoils after some late race paint-swapping. Behind Rouse, Neil McGrath and Frank Sytner completed the top three, after Brodie went out at the halfway stage whilst lying second. All in all it was a thoroughly entertaining race, with a goodly number of battles down the field. Amongst these were a fine Alfa GTV6 duel between Rob Kirby and Mark Hales, which ended when both investigated the Riches cabbage patch on the last lap. (MN) |
