Just like last year, Axel Felder and his teammates won the 24 hour race, and better still, Axel was second too in his second car! After one hour, it was the Capri of Niedzwiedz, Gartmann and Döring in the lead and they kept it well into the night - and then the engine broke. The Opel Manta of Weber, Schäfer and Strycek lost a water pump; it was repaired but it took an hour. A furious hunt brought them third in the end.
After the retirement of the Capri, the lead was taken by the Mercedes 280 CE of Claassen, Mertes and Richter but first a rear axle failure dropped them to ninth, and Sunday afternoon it was all over.
