The first heat ended for the favourites in predictable order: Andersson won, followed by Niedzwiedz, Peil and Manthey. Stureson was lucky to finish at all after a first-lap spin. Asch had been in the hunt too, but in the penultimate lap he left the track, and hit Behrens (Nissan) when he returned. The Mustang was heavily damaged once again. Asch did reach the finish line, but don’t ask how...

In heat two, Niedzwiedz retired after a spin in lap 2: his front suspension was damaged after contact with Andersson. Andersson lead this heat too, but ran out of luck in lap 16 when he lost a wheel. Peil took the lead, but Vogt was all fired up and when he passed Manthey he seemed able to fight for victory. But Stureson was on a hunt too, and from 16th on the grid he managed to pass Vogt for second. Fourth came Oberndorfer after a solid performance.
