The first race in Germany for the Sierra Turbo was, just like in Britain, an instant success. Niedzwiedz was third in practice, behind Peil (Volvo) and Asch (Mustang), but took the lead right after the start and won the race, after a hard fight with John (Camaro). Absent were Andersson (drove ETCC in Sweden), the Schnitzer team (ditto), and Döring’s Mustang cried enough after practice - the ABR team had just enough parts to assemble one engine for Asch. Offermann (Manta) had a coming together with John, and while the latter’s car could be repaired for the race, the Manta was a non-starter. |
