Tony Pond scored a convincing but somewhat hollow victory in a Group A race marred by an unfortunate and unnecessary startline incident at Silverstone. The accident involved a majority of the 27 strong field in some way or another and left championship leader and pole man, Andy Rouse to muse on what might have been as his ICS Rover sat badly damaged in the middle of the pit straight for the duration of the race. With Rouse out of contention Patrick Watts took his MG Metro Turbo to a Class B win and with it a lead in the championship, whilst Richard Longman took his Datapost Escort RS l600i to Class C honours.
