The last round of the ETCC for Group 2 touring cars ever brought an unexpected double victory for Audi. in the beginning, the Luigi Camaro had been in the lead, with the BMW 635 of Kelleners and Grano, already 1981 champions, in second. Clutch problems dropped them back and they finished only fifth eventually. When Anna Cambiaghi flew off, the Mazda RX7 of Kühn-Weiss and Müller took the lead ahead of the Audi duo Bergmeister/De Madrid and Seikel/Rosterg. When the Audi duo passed the Mazda, the headed for a double victory. The Mazda finished third. |
