Andy Rouse made it two-in-a-row at Silverstone last Sunday, when he took his Daily Mirror/ Juicy Jeans Capri to victory in the Tricentrol British Saloon Car Championship round, beating his former boss Gordon Spice, in what proved to be the best supporting race on the BRDC's International Trophy programme. Again Win Percy went for overall victory, taking pole and only failing after the Mazda gearbox stripped itself whilst leading. The Rovers could only watch as three Capris headed the field, but Jeff Allam upheld V8 fortunes with a steady drive into fourth. With the demise of the Mazda, Mike Buckley inherited Class 'B' honours, while Martin Brundle did likewise after John Morris spun on the final tour whilst challenging. Alan Curnow just pipped Jon Dooley for the "tiddler" spoils, after the best action of the entire event. (MN) |
