The first race of the last Group 2 season in the ETCC was won by, what else, BMW: Eggenberger had built a new BMW 635 for BMW Italia and it was driven by Grano, Kelleners and Cecotto. They beat the other 635 BMW of Werginz and Quester, which finished third. Second place was for Kindlmann and Pohlmann in a BMW 320; the new Audi coupés showed true speed, but the Bergmeister/Trint car retired while the Seikel/Rosterg lost their third place when their clutch cable had to be repaired - they finished 7th. |
