Jeff Allam finally took his first Tricentrol win of the year at Brands Hatch on Monday, leading comfortably from flag to flag. Having qualified in the middle of the front row, Allam made sure he wasn't caught up in any first corner argey-bargey and then really hammered it for the first few laps to give himself a comfortable cushion. That done he eased off on the run into the line with a new lap record of 1m41.5s to boot. Win Percy followed the Rover into second place with the Mazda RX7, pursued by the second TWR Rover of Peter Lovett, giving Tom Walkinshaw his third consecutive one-two Tricentrol finish, and his first one-two-three.

Percy started the race from pole position but came into contact with Brian Muir's Rover at Paddock, which put the PMS car out of the race on the spot. Fourth place fell to Gordon Spice's Capri after a hectic duel with the similar car of Andy Rouse which gradually succumbed to tyre problems and fell back to fifth. Rouse apparently made the wrong tyre choice and pushed too hard in the opening stages but Spice was also using a different carb for this race and seemed to have an advantage. Chuck Nicholson brought his new Mazda into the point's for the first time by finishing sixth, followed by Phil Martin-Dye's British Airways-backed Capri.

Chris Hodgetts again won the 1600 cc class in his Toyota Celica, setting a new record along the way, followed by Martin Brundle who put on a brave display early on in the Audi 80. Richard Longman took his second win in a row with the Datapost Metro with team mate Alan Curnow forming the rear guard and fending off the Alfasud of Jon Dooley.
