Manolo Sanjurjo won the opening round of the Championship of Spain for Group 1, after a tight duel with Miguel Arias, who crossed the line only 0,5 seconds behind the winner. The race was actually was dominated by Ricardo Galliano, but he retired with only three laps to go.

As expected Santiago Martin Cantero (Chrysler) was the winner of group 2 in an unexciting race. Bäbler had the better start, but after half a lap Cantero took over and was never challenged. The only excitement was in the battle for third place. The Simcas of de Onis and Mut were ahead initially, but then Peñacoba passed Mut, only to drop back again with a slipping clutch. strong and soon step Mut.
