Since the 300 km rennen at the Nürburgring was canceled because of snow, round two took us to Hockenheim.

Division 1
Loos and Liqui Moly had to do something further than fine tuning or importing tires from the USA - the Kremer K3 was superior to the works cars. Porsche decided to build new bodywork for their customer cars Monday after the race. Although Ludwig qualified only fifth after engine troubles, but soon took the lead and had another race win. Team orders at Loos were misunderstood by Schurti, who let Fitzpatrick by since he had the impression that it was Wollek - but the latter had spun after a meeting with Stommelen.

Division 2
In practice, the Zakspeed Capris (Nussbaumer’s turbo Escort was absent) had problems with engines, clutches and propshafts, but still Heyer clocked pole though Winkelhock qualified second, only three-tenths behind to the astonishment of Zakowski. Ertl was third.
The race was full of excitement, a three way battle between Winkelhock, Grohs and Ertl with Heyer 30 meters in front of them; that’s the sort of race it was. And in lap 10 Heyer lost his lead to Ertl, while Grohs enters the pits with a damaged front. Heyer countered, and took the lead again while Winkelhock pushed Ertl to third. Heyer kept the lead to the end, Winkelhock stayed second and Ertl finished third. Höttinger was not capable to make any impression on the turbo cars and finished sixth, behind Krebs (who had a good race with a Schnitzer turbo engine) and Ketterer.
