Brodie is back! The highly competitive saloon ace Dave "Run Baby Run" Brodie, who has spent some time away from the racing scene, celebrated his return at Brands Hatch on Bank Holiday Monday with a magnificent performance in the Tricentrol British Saloon Car Championship event. Brodie started the race from the back of the grid with a ten second penalty, but by the sixteenth lap he was up into second, disputing the lead with Brian 'Yogi' Muir. It took Brodie little time to force his way ahead, but a couple of tours later a tire chunked and he fell back to fifth, leaving Muir to take the honors. Brodie however, was given a special "Driver of the Day" Award, and rightly so. Muir's victory in his immaculate Brown and Day Capri was long overdue, and it came at the end of a race which nearly didn't happen at all, for no less than thirteen of the runners were protested before the event. Eventually however, the protests, by Gordon Spice Racing and Tom Walkinshaw, were thankfully withdrawn, and the racing went on...
