Kindergarten time at Zolder: Hezemans fell out with Loos and vice-versa, harsh words were said and rules were rules: no practice when Loos himself was not present. Not ideal when you’re fighting for the championship. Porsche was not amused at all, but thoughts of getting the baby-935 out of the museum were put aside when analyses proved that the baby wouldn’t be on the pace anyway at the Norisring nor the “Betonschleife” at the Nürburgring.

Division 1
Despite all this, Hezemans had the only 3.2 engine in the paddock, but pole went to Schurti with Hezemans second. Stommelen was again best of the rest in sixth.
Schurti and Hezemans were side-by-side after the start, then Ludwig, Wollek and Fitzpatrick. In lap seven, Wollek left the road when he slipped off the pedals - out. Hezemans took the lead in lap 19, but soon after his half shaft broke, damaging an oil line with a fire as a result. Ludwig left the track as well, but Schurti, in the lead again, ran into troubles as well: he had a puncture, so Fitzpatrick who had been some distance away closed rapidly. But at the moment he could see the orange car, a Carrera closed the door on him so all Fitzpatrick could do was bringing his badly damaged car to the finish, behind Schurti who slowly reached the finish on his rim only. Third was van Oorschot. The Max Moritz team was ecstatic after so much bad luck.

Division 2
Heyer claimed pole with an incredible 1.34,5 - next one up was Winkelhock in the turbo BMW in 1.35,9. His engine expired soon, in the warmup his spare failed as well, so Manfred had to race with a GS atmo engine. Hahne was third in the ex-Heyer atmo car, a fine performance - but with two years experience now, it was about time. Ertl switched between his two cars but did not get any further than fourth, in front of Höttinger and Becker.
Heyer disappeared into the distance after the start, then Hahne, Ertl ran into Winkelhock and had to let Höttinger by but soon regained and climbed to second. Winkelhock fell back (engine), and Ertl slowed too when his gearbox slowly disintegrated. Höttinger passed Hahne, whose car was not perfect after a crash at the warmup. Then, two laps before the flag, Höttinger was leading! Heyer had fallen back with a broken rear axle, Hahne passed and Heyer could manage to finish, albeit only in third, right before Ertl.
