Race 1
Richard Longman caused quite a stir at the start by out dragging everybody else away, but Lloyd soon found a way past and immediately stamped his authority on the race, easing his black car into a lead which, initially, he looked capable of extending at any time. He took things moderately easy though because of the tricks the heat were playing on the tires and he looked set for an easy win at half distance.
Things really came alive, however, after Percy had inevitably fought his way past the dicing Longman and Brundle and had begun to make an impression on the leading Golf despite the fact that he was brakeless! Sadly though, there wasn't quite enough time for him to challenge Lloyd wheel to wheel as it were and Lloyd ran out the winner after the twenty five laps. Longman tried very hard in the latter stages of the race and did very well indeed to beat Brundle's Toyota for the next place, setting a new lap record for his class on the way like Lloyd. Jim Marsden's left hand drive Scirocco was fifth.

Race 2
Gordon Spice made the best start to lead Brodie into Copse but there was no way that Spice could escape Brodie's attentions, but by the same rule it was difficult to imagine Spice being passed by the sinister black and day-glow red colored car. After three laps Spice's Teammate Chris Craft managed to sneak inside Brodie and he was soon on the tail of 'Gordy'. Behind, the battle for fourth was being led, as a rule by Vince Woodman's Esso Capri, the West Countryman fighting a desperate duel with Gerry Marshall's Triplex Capri and following these two were Tony Dron, Jeff Allam and the rest.
At the ten lap stage, Brodie was still very much in touch with the two leaders, while behind Allam was beginning to mount a challenge on those in front of him. By the sixteenth lap it looked as though Brodie was going to remain in third behind the two Autocar sponsored cars, but a spin at Becketts and then a fan belt falling off caused him to drop back out of contention.
Towards the end Craft pressured Spice really hard, but there was no way that the wily Staines driver was going to let Craft through and he took the victory that had been on the cards since his excellent start to the race. Allam hacked his way past Marshall after Gerry had finished battling with Woodman, to take third, while Tony Dron finished behind the Triplex Capri in fifth place despite a lurid spin at Woodcote to take his class once again.
