Despite its nearly two seasons of inactivity, Jose Pavon triumphed in this race, thus enabling the first championship for his friend Manolo Sanjurjo, who could not attend because he was recovering from a stomach operation. The rival of Sanjurjo, Carlos Jodar, had a bad start and was sent off by Secades who was blackflagged as a consequence.

Oñoro failed to win because of injection problems in the last few laps. So Sanz de Madrid finished ahead of Manuel Juncosa and Oñoro. Hansi Babler, the championship leader, was fighting with Sanz de Madrid, but had engine problems too in the final laps.
