In Estoril, things were more or less the same as last race; the Luigi/BMW Italia car of Grano and Xhenceval won the race after Facetti/Finotto suffered more bad luck with a slipping clutch and overheating problems. Bergmeister and Siegrist finished second overall (we were getting used to this) but a fourth overall for a humble Fiat 128 was more than a decent championship could bear - even with Lella Lombardi behind the wheel.
On the Spanish front, much irritation was caused by Chrysler España, who tried to get the winning Seats robbed of any points after their own cars had retired; FIA regulations stated that cars had to cover 90% of the distance of the winner to get points, the Spanish rules named 70%. It was in vain, Chrysler could forget the championship after only three rounds.
