The last race of the season - would it be Wollek or Stommelen?

Division 1
Both Stommelen and Schurti had a 3.2 litre engine for this race, while Wollek had a 3.0 - in line with the Porsche advice, where the idea was that a 3.2 would cause problems with cooling and fuel injection.
Despite this, the 3.2 of Schurti qualified on pole, with Stommelen next in the same time.
In the race, all earlier predictions were pointless, since it rained; and there, the tyre was the deciding factor. Stommelen and Wollek on Goodyears, Schurti on Dunlop - Stommelen walked away with the race and the championship, since Wollek’s choice for a dry set-up backfired. Schurti’s Dunlops were useless, but Ertl had a fine race and finished fourth - which gave some hope for the future.

Division 2
“I’ll put the car on pole and win the race”, Ludwig said before qualifying. But first practice ended too soon: ignition problems. Second practice however he did put the car on pole, 0,7 seconds faster than Heyer and Winkelhock, with Surer fourth after his 2-monts suspension. But Surer’s race hardly started when Grohs touched him in the startcurve, he spun and Grohs hit him so hard that Surer had to be blackflagged since his bodywork was very damaged.
At front, Ludwig and Heyer pulled away, Heyer trying to outbrake the Schnitzer car from time to time, but Ludwig was clearly faster - in fact he drove just fast enough to stay in front of Heyer; withouth doubt he could have been faster - he even turned down the boost pressure.
Hahne and Winkelhock had a fight until Hahne ran into braking problems. Winkelhock finished third and came third in the championship as well.
