Division 1
It looked like Kremer could improve on a works project: not for the first time, the brothers from Cologne had their own ideas about how a Porsche 935 should look like. They improved the bodywork, the results was a beautiful car which won first time out. Wollek took the lead from pole right after the start, Stommelen could follow until his tires gave trouble. Schurti could not challenge Wollek any further when his turbo blew on lap 6 (not the first one for Max Moritz). The order at the finish was Wollek, Stommelen, Neuhaus and Schenken, in a second Loos car.

Division 2
Not only Kremer and to a lesser extent Loos (mini-spoilers on the rear wings) were experimenting with their cars, in division 2 almost everybody did. Hohmann’s Dieter Basche changed the rear wing, and an opening at the bonnet provided a better flow through the radiator. Obermoser’s GS team changed the universal 320 into a sprint car: the automatic jacks were thrown out, the boot was cleared, the rear radiators were moved to the front. The GS car seemed competitive now. The cars had a new front and a longer tail. Heyer’s Zakspeed car had lost a little weight (20 kg), but Hahne still had a very heavy car and was left behind. Krebs finally showed the real power of Schnitzer’s 2002 turbo: he clocked a sub-7 minute lap, while Ertl had clutch- and oil pressure problems and did not record a time. Hezemans finally had improved considerably - but the others as well, so in the end it was top-5 but nothing more.
The joy of the Schnitzer team about their pole was soon forgotten when Krebs lost one cylinder in lap 1, while Ertl had not even made the start. Another win for Faltz and Stuck therefore with Surer, Cheever and Heyer fighting each other - the finish was in just that order, Heyer with a damaged car since Cheever had used some team tactics. Winkelhock retired when his boot came off and his car handled a little less predictable than usual - the catch fencing ended his drive.
