As usual, the invitation race provided a rather mixed field; from a full Group 5 Escort and BMW 320 to a trio of Porsche 934’s to 1000 cc Group 2 screamers and a few Group 1 cars.
After the flag was raised (but not dropped!) Hezemans and Grohs set off, only to discover at Panorama corner that they were the only ones who had left the line - the others had been waiting for the flag to drop, unlike Germany where they raise the flag to start a race...
Hezemans and Grohs retook their positions, amidst cooking competitors. They were way too fast for the rest and duelled for the lead until lap 13; then they lapped Tjan (left and right at the same time!); in the subsequent confusion, Grohs hit Tjan - both were out.
