The RAC had taken Colin Vandervell's points from him following the Championship opener at Silverstone, and the Triplex Capri driver was none too pleased. He sulked a bit, moaned a bit, but then he drove a bit and poked a defiant two fingers at the august body as he won the second round of the series in fine style. Vandervell claimed pole position for the race, led each lap, and comfortably beat the works Dolomite Sprint of Tony Dron into second place. Tom Walkinshaw gave indication of the BMW 530 i’s potential by finishing third ahead of Gerry Marshall's Vauxhall Magnum, and the similar car of Jeff Allam was driven well to finish fifth. |
