Ice cold wind, rain, thin fields - the Belgian Touring Car championship had seen better days.

Production under 1600 cc
Pole position remained empty since Holvoet’s rims were not in order. Gaspard (Simca) was away first, but when the rain diminished Marquet (Avenger) took over. Now Hardy (Audi) touched Gaspard and he fell back, and he could only claim fourth, behind Marquet, De Wilde (Golf) and Hardy.

Production over 1600 cc
Everybody started on wets - apart from the DTV Vauxhalls of De Deyne and Braillard. Heaven was ink-black, the track was flooded - the result was that Braillard lost it in the second curve and was out; De Deyne could only finish fourth, behind Semoulin, Pirenne and Desoet.

Group 2/4 under 1600 cc
Vanierschot was quickest of the pack, the Lotus-BDA (Vaniertschot wondered how on earth this engine could be homologated in a Lotus Europa...) of “Alain Dex” far off the pace - he even lost second to Holvoet when he missed a gear in the last lap.

Group 2/4 over 1600 cc
The Pantera of Tricot was even in the rain by far the fastest car of the six starters. Joosen (BMW) tried to follow but after he lost control for a moment he accepted second spot. Semoulin (Escort) won the 2-litre class in his group 1 car.
