A nice program at Zolder with 8 races, most of them entertaining. The 1300 cc Group 1 was dominated by Marquet, while in the 2500 race Pirenne was leading until two laps before the end but then got a puncture, leaving the win to De Deyne. Group 2-4 under 1300 c, Group 3 1600 cc and Group 1 over 2500 cc: this mixed bag was initially led by Alain Semoulin (Lotus) but he locked his brakes in the hairpin and found himself in tenth position, while Meylink and Belgian Joosen were leading now. But the Lotus came back and took the lead on the last lap - only to lock up once again. He had to settle for third. The other Group 2/3/4 race was even more hotly disputed. Rubens (De Tomaso) took an early lead, three laps later it was Vanierschot (Alpine) and then three laps later it was Joosen (BMW 3.0 Luigi). But then the Alpine pilot came back and won the race. |
