A long-distance Group 1 race doesn’t guarantee a good race - and this one wasn’t a good one. Few entries from outside the Benelux, Dutch cars which were not prepared as liberal as the foreign competition - it was a miracle that Slotemaker in the Camaro claimed pole. His race was over within a few laps with fuel supply problems. Lauria rolled his car very early in the race, and Kanters crashed his Alfa as well. Joosen/Vermeulen were in the lead now, with the Vauxhall of Frankenhout/Vermeulen close behind. But after mid-race the Vauxhall retired, Lammers being the only one to finish in the same lap as the winning Belgian Commodore. |
