The entry for this race was much the same, though a number of Porsche 934’s were racing at the Nürburgring this weekend - for the Euro GT championship. Porsches “flatnose” was temporarily replaced by a normal one. The Porsches took the lead, the works car in front of course, while the Lancia settled for third - and was promoted to second when the Kremer car broke its gearbox. But after two hours, the Lancia befell the same fate as the Kremer Porsche - its gearbox broke. The only further excitement took place at the Schnitzer pits: the coupé, which had taken over second, lost a wheel after a tire change had given problems - the nut did not want to come loose. The amount of force needed to persuade the nut to give up, probably damaged the suspension. |
