It was very cold and there were more spectators than cars - the fields were very thin indeed for this first round of the Belgian championship. In the first race, Marquet ran away with victory ahead of the battling Polak (Simca) and De Deyne (Alfasud). In the second race, still with the group 1 cars but now over 1600 cc, Pirenne (Dolomite) won ahead of De Deyne (Vauxhall).
The third race was won by Alain Semoulin (Lotus) ahead of the Opel Commodore of Eddy Joosen. The interest focused on the fight between the two Fiat X 1/9 of Laplume and Rubens, who were eventually forced to abandon.
The fourth race, that of the group 2 and groups 3 and 4 was the most fierce of the day. It was a fight between the De Tomaso of Rubens and the Alpine of Vanierschot, but Rubens had to give up after lap 12.
