For the last Euro GT race of the season, the championship was already decided but second place and valuable points for the Porsche cup were still at stake. In heat 1, Evertz took the lead but lost another turbo in lap 12; so Krebs had a lonely victory. GT-wise it was Heyer in the lead, followed by Hezemans, Schenken and Wollek, but the Dutchman took the lead soon after. Schenken fell back (new brakes) and Stenzel retired with a... broken turbo. Three hours later heat 2 was started. The order was Hezemans, Wollek, Heyer, Schenken and Krebs - the latter could only take the lead just before the end, when he found the switch for the second fuel pump. Wollek took over from Hezemans, but spun twice - so the GT order was now Hezemans, Heyer, Schenken and Stenzel. The last lap formed the decision: Heyer had a go on the inside of Hezemans, spun, Schenken went by while Heyer climbed out of the grass, removing his oil cooler - and dumping its oil on the track. On the slippery surface, Wollek clashed into Stenzel - though both reached the finish with a lot of damage. |
