With the championship already decided, the last race was brought the DRM for the third time to Hockenheim.

Division 1
Stenzel was second fastest in practice, but blew another Turbo - while Hezemans was on pole. A non-starter was Dören; for the first time he had landed a seat in a turbo Porsche, only to discover that the turbo pressure was zero. “I’ve never retired with my own car, it’s been sold and I have already paid for this one...”
Stenzel took the lead, followed by Hezemans and Wollek - the Frenchman passing Hezemans in lap 3. He hunted Stenzel down, and Hezemans passed the Jägermeister car as well in lap 12. But Stenzel recovered in the last lap, and in the Sachs curve Stenzel left some space on the inside - the tricky Dutchman did not hesitate and pushed Stenzel into the grass. So the final order was Wollek, Hezemans and Stenzel.

Division 2
Ludwig was absent (he concentrated on the F2 race that day) and he was replaced by shooting star Armin Hahne in the Europamöbel car - who qualified second on he gird, towed by Heyer. Opel had its usual number of disasters; Trint was not present, Röhrl’s engine dropped a valve in first practice without setting a time, with soft compound tyres and some detail improvements he clocked 2.26,1 - a long way from the front and even 1,5 seconds slower than last time at the Hockenheimring... this engine (an old one from Trint) showed metal fragments in its oil and therefore Röhrl was a spectator on Sunday.
Krebs’ business partner Appel got a seat in the second Schnitzer car (instead of Stommelen!).
Heyer made no secret of his desire to win; he took the lead in front of Obermoser, Krebs and Hahne but let Obermoser take over in lap 5 - though the latter had to retire two laps later. In lap 10, Krebs was allowed to lead, but Heyer had enough now, increased his pace and won. Krebs spun, hit Hahne - the latter had to retire with a slow puncture, while Krebs finished fourth, behind Schommers and Denzel.
