Race 1
Not unexpectedly Andy Rouse's Dolomite led the first one from start to finish, but his race was not without problems. The car's fan belt came off on the second lap and with the dynamo not charging Rouse had to use fourth gear where he would have liked overdrive third for much of the race. For a while Rouse was shadowed by team-mate Roger Bell and the two Dolomites were relentlessly pursued by Barrie Williams, whose handling of the JAL Mazda was the most impressive part of the race.
Just when Williams looked likely to catch Bell the Mazda flew over the kerb at Fosters (the new bend named after circuit manager Rex Foster) when it arrived there without any gears. When the car landed it regained the use of its gears and Williams continued at apparently unabated pace , despite having bent the front wheels inwards! When Bell retired with a faulty fuel pump Williams took over second place and he was just three seconds behind Rouse at the finish. Bernard Unett's Avenger took over the lead in the 1600 cc class from Jenny Birrell's similar car after three laps, but Win Percy's Toyota Celica came through well and caught and passed Unett nine laps from the end.

Race 2
Stuart Graham made a mockery of the rest of the larger saloons when he lapped them all to win the second Southern Organs race in his Brut Camaro. Vince Woodman's Camaro was the only car able to keep with Graham from the start, but he gradually lost touch and then dropped out of second place after 12 laps when the bearings went. Richard Lloyd's 7-litre Camaro took the place over for a lap before Lanfranchi's ever-improving Hemicuda got past him, but after only a lap in second place the car developed a sudden misfire and retired to the pits.
So Lloyd came in second, narrowly avoiding being caught in the closing laps by 4000 cc class winner Gordon Spice, well clear in the class after Bill Gubelmann's Capri was delayed by a spin and Shaun Jackson's Opel developed a misfire.
