The touring car races were all dominated by a single pilot. The small Francorchamps and Group 1 cars lost Willy Braillard in the first lap, leaving the race to Jean-Marie Jacquemin in his Avenger while second place finally went to Dubois after a long battle with Van Hove and Gillessen. In the second race for the Francorchamps cars, we seemed to get a battle between René Tricot and Jean Xhenceval. But the latter finally went ahead very quickly and we then witnessed a lively procession. Marc Demol was third, Jean-Paul Rieu, came back to fourth, heading Joosen in his Group 1 car. The two liters had a fight between Michel De Deyne, “Christine” and André Gavage. The Group 1B and 2-4 race gave Albert Vanierschot his first win of the season, taking advantage of the rain that hampered “Davit”. Feider and Xhenceval didn’t like the rain too, but again Joosen went well, driving his Opel Commodore Group 1 to a splendid fifth overall. |
