The second race for the championship was a combined race once again. After the demolition of Grohs’ CSL in practice of the 1000 km race, the ETCC car of Peltier and Müller was brought here; Schommers’ team had invested a lot of time in the car, among many modifications reducing its weight by 25 kg; Schnitzer brought two repaired cars.
In division two, 5 (!) Zakspeed Escorts were fighting the lonely 2002 of Obermoser.

Zondler, spurred on by comments in German magazine Sport Auto (the wealthy perfume producer should not occupy a seat in a fast touring car, blocking the way for talented youngsters) set pole (at the cost of a blown engine), while Grohs was not happy at all with the handling of the white rent-a-car. Krebs and Schommers had a trouble-free practice.
Silly enough, Zondler made a bad start.
Krebs had taken the lead, followed by Grohs, Zondler, Stenzel and Kelleners, while Schommers recovered rapidly from another bad start. He passed Stenzel, Zondler and Grohs, and was in the slipstream of the Schnitzer car after 9 laps. In the meantime, Zondler had been irritated by the green Carrera of Stenzel closely behind; he lost it in the right-hander after the finish line, damaging the bodywork, which made a pit stop necessary, another one followed for “inspection”.
In lap 16, Schommers took the lead and disappeared, until he ran into traffic of backmarkers. Carefully, he passed them, until he saw Zondler. His fears were justified when he was held up and Krebs snitched by, using the grass. He won the race with 3 seconds in hand.
The Porsche brigade behaved better, with a terrific fight between Kelleners and Stenzel, while Schickentanz had to give up with brake troubles. Grohs damaged yet another CSL.
The two-litre race was won by Heyer, when Obermoser ran into tyre trouble. The Escort II of Ludwig came in third, which was OK after many problems for Zakspeed in practice - the new Escort had a fire and an engine failure; and Heyer had another one.

A support race to the F2 meeting was for Touring cars under 1600 cc; the Hähn Alfa Romeo GTAJ with its 16-valve head was faster than all 1600 cc Escorts or BMW’s. Fifth overall came the Nothelle Audi.
