The new format of the Belgian championship combined 3 sets of rules (Group 1, 1B, 2, 3 and 4) into 4 separate races, with the consequence of fine races and interesting battles.

Group 1 under 1600 cc
Polak, De Deyne and Martin in their Alfas dominated race 1, the Simcas unable to keep up.

Group 1 over 1600 cc; Group 1B and 3 under 1600 cc
Former world champion karting Goldstein was closest to Tricot, both Opel Commodore, but Dex piloting a Lotus Europa was not far behind.

Group 2 and 4 under 1600 cc, Group 1B over 1600 cc
In this race, the 16-valve Escort of Dex and the Alpine of Vanierschot were separated only 2/10s of a second at the line.

Group 2/4 over 1600 cc
In theory the last race should have been the most exciting, but Peltier in his ex-works car was clearly faster than anybody else and he ran away with the race, beating Haxhe with the Porsche Carrera while Xhenceval retired the Luigi BMW.
