BMW gave up after the Nürburgring debacle, but Ford sent two works cars to Holland. Apart from the rather diminished BMW brigade (Alpina had lost a few cars but sent the unlucky Müller/Ogrodowczyk), we had local entries of a good 1973 Capri (like in Monza, with Akersloot/Fitzpatrick) and a CSL, 1973 style, with Vermeulen/Slotemaker. The latter was intended to run in practice only, with Huub Vermeulen, after a very unlucky season in the Netherlands. No funding was available for the race - and no co-driver entered. But during an encouraging practice (sub-1.37 lap, 6th on the grid), Rob Slotemaker liked to have another taste of his 1972 car. Additional funding was organised, and in the last hour of practice Rob climbed aboard the BMW.

Like in other 1974 rounds, Carrera’s (two of them) were added, and the second Zakspeed Escort was hired to Boshuis and Berg. No other local favourite here, the fast 1300 cc Datsun Sunny coupé of future Nissan and Mercedes boss Tjan and Coronel (father of) of course not able to fight with the Escorts. There might have been more Carreras with local drivers if the Nürburgring GT round had not turned into a mayhem of damaged Porsches.
Third fastest in practice (you’ve guessed the first two) was the British SCA Camaro, then the first BMW of Brun and Zondler - we will here more from them.

After the start, the Capris lead, of course. But the Camaro could keep up well, until the rear axle had to be replaced.
Rain set in, and after two spins of the de Villota/de Bagration in Tarzan corner, the repaired Camaro joined the Capris as if nothing had happened. But then its engine blew.

Half an hour before the finish, the track was soaked, water standing as high as 4 cm on some places. Then Zondler ran into the back of the leading Capri (three laps in front) at the bottom of the Hunzerug. The damage was not big but the fuel pump had lost its 12 volt feed. Hezemans angrily repaired with the help of his teeth and the rear light feed. “I could see him coming in my rear view mirror but there were cars in front of me so I could not avoid him.”

So Stommelen/Mass won, Bertrams/van Lennep in the Carrera an unclassified second after a strong race, Vermeulen/Slotemaker third (second in Touring), Heyer/Ludwig division 1 winners, this time “only” sixth overall. Peltier, eighth after a spin of the Fierlant, now led the championship together with Heyer - but Zakspeed claimed the European manufacturers title for Ford - though only if the sixth race (Jarama) would not be cancelled, otherwise the championship would not be granted at all.
